4-month-old

Parents are proud of their 4-month-old son, whose development is faster than other babies, but his “neck is crooked”. The doctor found out what he let the child do and held his head. He’s not old enough yet!

Vietnamese media reported the case of a 4-month-old. Boy who came to see a doctor with a crooked neck. After his family was shocked to find that his head was tilted to one side. The examination results showed that the child had a “clear crooked neck” but was still responsive, cheerful and active. There was no risk of genetic diseases or muscular dystrophy.

Dr. Do Thi Lan , a doctor from the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Rehabilitation at Ha Long Children’s Hospital in Vietnam. Revealed that after examining the parents’ records. It was found that the family had the child “tipped over” since he was less than 2 months old.

At that time, the family was happy and encouraged the ยูฟ่าเบท child to do that activity. The child would usually stay in a prone position and lift his head. When he felt tired, he would lower himself. The parents thought that the child must have a strong neck to be able to turn. So they encouraged him to do it repeatedly. Until the child was 4 months old. He began to notice symptoms of a crooked neck, but thought that it would go away on its own. However, after 2 weeks, the crooked neck did not improve. So he had to take the child to see a doctor.

The doctor said that the child started to roll over too early while the neck muscles were still weak. In addition, when the child rolled over. He did not receive any help to support the head and neck, causing the neck muscles to weaken and fatigue, resulting in the neck tilting to one side. This symptom was caused by a care error. Finally, after 20 days of treatment, the child’s neck tilt improved. The parents also received advice on how to take care of their child correctly to avoid a position that would cause the neck to tilt again.

Currently, there are many patients who experience neck tilt due to incorrect posture. Most of which occur in children aged 4-6 months. The causes are training the child to turn over too early, holding the child in the wrong position, or letting the child watch too much TV . Therefore, parents should let the child practice postures that are appropriate for their development. When breastfeeding, the child should suck on both breasts equally. When the child starts to turn over. The child should not stay in the prone position and raise the head for too long. Also, avoid letting the child sleep with his head turned to one side for a long time.

The doctor said, “Nowadays, there is a lot of technology usage. Many parents start letting their children watch TV since they are young. However, they should limit the time children watch TV to avoid staying in a still position for too long, which can cause their necks to be tired and tilted. They should encourage their children to move and develop both physical and mental skills.”

If a child has a crooked neck and does not receive proper care, it may not go away or may get worse. Therefore, if parents find that their child has a problem with their cervical spine, they should take the child to see a doctor as soon as possible. Treating a crooked neck caused by incorrect posture can be cured after rehabilitation. However, if it is caused by a medical problem, it may require detailed examination and treatment. The rehabilitation process may take a long time.
